When I decided to create this blog, I decided that I wouldn’t make it a blatant commercial for my company, CPA for Small Business, LLC. There were two reasons for this. First, I wanted to provide a central location where small business owners and entrepreneurs could go for accounting and financial management information. I have been in your shoes and I would have loved to have had a place like The Virtual CFO to reference when I owned my logistics company. Second, I have been personally turned off by information sources on the internet that are blatant advertising for the company that distributes them. About a year ago, my wife gave me an iPod. I was really excited when I learned that there were small business related podcasts that I could download and listen to while I was working out. Unfortunately, I quit downloading these podcasts because most of them are more advertising than informative. There was one financial management related podcast in which the host (who owned a consulting company) would ask questions and then recommend that the listener contact his company to learn the answers. Three months into this blog, I am glad I made the decision not to turn it into a daily advertisement for my firm. I think my current readers are grateful.
