Small Business Ownership is Sometime Rough
Jim Reams, the owner of Mothership BBQ has posted several "status of his company" posts to the Mothership BBQ Blog this week concerning the future of his restaurant.
I admire Jim for being able to honestly look at his situation and make the decisions he’s made. He wrote in one of his posts, "I haven't been paid in a very, very long time. Try to imagine working 70 hours a week, never getting any time off, hardly ever seeing your kid, and not getting paid."
When I owned my logistics company, I learned what it is like to put your heart and soul into a business, work 70 to 80 hours a week, and not get paid. The last two years my company was open I used to joke that I owned a nonprofit organization. I guess I was fortunate to have been single at the time and not had to deal with not seeing my kid (Jim has a really nice and cute daughter).
I hope Jim finds investors and is able to continuing his dream. I like to see people succeed.
