Chris Botti Rocks, OK Jazzs

I’ve loved jazz since I was in college. When I am working at the computer, I usually have my Windows Media Player tuned to WMOT, which is an all jazz station in Middle Tennessee.

Last night, my wife and I had a date night and we went to see Chris Botti in concert at the new Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.

Wow! The show was phenomenal and the two hour concert was over in a flash. My wife and I both walked left saying that it was one of the best concerts we have ever seen.

A neat series of events occurred during the show that demonstrates what a great ambassador of jazz Chris Botti is. At the first of the concert, he found and began talking to two children in the crowd. He continued to talk to them throughout the show and towards the end he went into the crowd and played My Funny Valentine to them. At the very end of the show, one of the girls waved to Mr. Botti. He saw her and gave a wave back. I would bet you that these two girls will grow up appreciating and enjoying jazz because of their experience at this concert.

Also, I played and studied drums from forth grade through my mid-twenties. We had box seats overlooking the right side of the stage which was an excellent vantage point to observe Chris Botti’s drummer, Billy Kilson, play. He is genuinely one of the best drummers I have ever seen perform. One of the drum teachers I had once told me that if you could hear it in your head you could play it. Billy was playing things that I could never imagine in my head.

The Virtual CFO highly recommends that you go to a Chris Botti concert if you have the opportunity.
