A Two-Year-Old’s Guide to Branding, Part 2 (The Munchkin Knows Starbucks = Coffee)
Last week, I told you how my two-year-old daughter recognized the Cracker Barrel logo while our family was traveling down the interstate. Well, this week I learned that my daughter can also identify the Starbucks logo.
Last Thursday, my family and I were traveling together and my wife asked if I’d like to have some Starbucks coffee (I love coffee and rarely turn down the opportunity to have Starbucks coffee as a treat). My wife volunteered to go in and purchase the coffee if I would stay in the car with our daughter. When I dropped my wife off at the front door of Starbucks, my daughter looked at the logo in the front window of the store and excitedly exclaimed, "Mommy’s going to buy coffee for daddy".
What is astounding to me is that my daughter has only been to Starbucks 3 or 4 times in her life. Even though she can’t read, she has linked the Starbucks logo to coffee.
I wonder if I could get my daughter to drive her Big Wheel to Starbucks while I am working to purchase a coffee treat for me. Be warned, I may be writing an entry next week explaining how my daughter knows about Google Maps from their logo <grin>.
